Iceland 2009

During the summer holidays a group of 20 girls accompanied by Mr Waterson and Miss Lane travelled on a Geography trip to Iceland.

Strokkur Geyser

We flew to Keflavik and headed straight to the “Blue Lagoon” where we could relax in the hot geothermal waters as well as cleansing our faces with the natural white mud! One of the other places we visited was Skogafoss waterfall which is more than 200ft high. There was a long walk to the top; however, once we got there the view was beautiful. We also saw a geyser called “Storkkur” which is one of the most active geysers in the area and can sprout up to 20 meters every 10-20 minutes. It was incredible to see this huge eruption of hot water from the ground.

The evenings were entertaining and got very competitive as we played card games along with the staff! The final day was spent sight seeing around the city Reykjavik. We visited an impressive building called “The Pearl” which contains 6 huge water tanks holding all the city’s water supply.

The trip was a fantastic experience as each of us got to see amazing glaciers, waterfalls and geysers in real life instead of just learning about them. A huge thank you goes to Mr Fox, Mr Waterson and Miss Lane for organising such an incredible trip!
