Wednesday 23rd March 2011 brought 'An Evening with Michael Wood', the launch of the Friends of NLCS, a group for former members of the NLCS community. Over 120 former NLCS parents, former NLCS staff, ex-governors and 'friends' of the School revisited NLCS, some after not having been here for 30 years.
The evening began at 5:30pm with guests wandering round NLCS grounds and exploring the places they used to know well. Drinks and canapés were then served in the Athenian Cafe of the Performing Arts Centre where guests caught up with old friends and shared with each other "what our daughters are doing now".
Michael Wood's talk about his TV series, ‘Story of England' was as enthralling as anticipated and thoroughly enjoyed by all. Michael gave an insight into the filming of the series; the reasons that Kibworth was the village chosen to have its story told, the discoveries they made and how they made them.
The evening was a great success, thank you to Michael Wood and to all the guests that attended.
What the guests thought of the night...
"Thanks for arranging a brilliant evening yesterday which went perfectly in every way. Great to see the school in great shape, meet parents - and the idea of getting some of the girls to mingle with parents was a masterstroke. And then there was Michael Wood..! Sheer poetry." Rahul and Mounnou Bhandari, former NLCS parents
"...a delightful opportunity to visit school." Helena Arenson, former NLCS parent
"The Friends of NLCS are to be congratulated on the all-round success of their inauguration, and I thank you for what was a most enjoyable evening..." Martin Harrap, former NLCS staff
