Year 7 Christmas Pantomime 2011

The Year 7 Drama Club is run by Drama enthusiasts from the sixth form. The girls meet once a week and it is an opportunity for Year 7 students to play theatre games and explore improvisation and script work with other girls from the whole year group.

The Autumn term focuses predominantly on preparing for the Christmas Pantomime. This is traditionally performed for residents of local Livability care homes. The Livability residents are visited by girls in the school weekly as part of the school's community service. It is an incredibly rewarding project for both girls and residents as they build up relationships throughout the year.

One of the highlights of the year is the Livability visit to NLCS for their annual Christmas party. Residents come to the dining hall and are provided with festive food, Christmas carols and gifts organised by each form in the school. The Year 7 Drama Club then provides the entertainment! The pantomime is also performed to the girls in Junior School in the school hall as part of their end of year festivities.  As you can imagine, the "He's behind you!" moments have a completely different impact on our younger audiences!

The Pantomime was written by girls in the sixth form who have also played a huge part in the production of the piece. Rather than re-creating a traditional story, the sixth formers wanted to come up with a modern and exciting twist and thought it would be interesting to explore the background to the Seven Dwarfs from a humorous perspective.

This year, for the first time, the cast are performing the pantomime in the Drama Studio for one additional performance in order to share their work with family and friends.
