In the first 2 years at North London Collegiate Senior School girls will be able to take part in a number of extra-curricular activities. Middle School Choir
Open to all. The choir prepare 4/5 songs each term and encompasses music from a large genre of styles including folk, classical, jazz and musical traditions.
Middle School Chamber Choir
This is an auditioned choir open to girls in Years 7, 8 and 9. The aim of this choir is to provide more challenging music and to develop a professionalism and quality to their music making.
Middle School Orchestra*
Open to all. The orchestra is roughly 50/60 strong and music is wide and varied ranging from popular classics to film scores to jazz numbers.
Middle School Wind Band
The wind players from the orchestra are given the opportunity to rehearse and perform repertoire for the concerts.
Middle School String Group*
The string players from the orchestra are given the opportunity to rehearse and perform repertoire for the concerts.
Clarinet Ensemble
Open to all clarinet players.
Recorder Group
Available to all recorder players
Flute Ensemble
Available to all flute players
Senior String Group
By invitation only.
Chamber Music
In addition there are over 30 Chamber Ensembles at the school. North London Collegiate has won the National Chamber Music Competition over 10 times in the last 15 years and we are fortunate in having top quality teaching staff and generous financial subsidies from the school to help us with this extensive programme.
There are a number of chamber groups being coached in Years 7 and 8 and these range from cello trios, cello quartets, string trios and string quartets.
* It is expected that Scholarship girls will play in Orchestra and take part in Chamber Music.
