Gamelan Music Workshop...
On 17th November the Yr 10 and 11 GCSE Music classes attended a workshop at the London Symphony Orchestra’s Education Department at the St Luke’s Centre in Old Street on the traditional music of Bali, Indonesia: Gamelan.
The girls learnt a traditional piece and how to play the different instruments that, together, form a Gamelan.
Through this experience of playing they were able to see not only how Gamelan music is constructed but also how mesmerizing the sounds and patterns can be. An enjoyable day was had by all, one which hopefully will be remembered at least until the Yr 11s sit their IGCSE in June!
