North London Collegiate School was proud to welcome best-selling author Celia Rees, who gave a talk in the McLauchlan Library about all aspects of writing.
She began her talk with a short insight into one of her books, Savoy, accompanied by a powerpoint. It was a thoroughly enjoyable and thought-provoking talk, and it was interesting to compare her methods of research to that of Mark Robson (last year's visiting author).
On being asked "Do you base your style on any other author?" she answered “No, I don’t. I believe that an author should find his or her own voice.”
Her talk was well attended and girls also had the opportunity to ask questions and get her autograph.
Celia Rees stayed on to lead a workshop in the afternoon for Year 8 girls, during which she gave them an insight into the book she is currently working on.
