Yr 6 Isle of Wight Trip

On 14th April 2008, 47 very excited Yr 6 girls set off for a fun-packed week at Little Canada, the education and activity centre run by PGL on the Isle of Wight.
The main focus of the week was field work to enhance the Geography curriculum. The girls visited Freshwater Bay, where they studied coastal formations. They examined different types of pollution on the site of Little Canada itself. They considered the impact humans have on the environment through a study of the derelict site of Warners Holiday Camp. Through the Citizenship Game, they explored how to make wise decisions when developing a settlement.
In addition, the girls faced the challenges of a number of physically demanding activities: rock climbing, abseiling, the cat walk and Jacob’s Ladder. Other activities involved working as a team. It was a fantastic week for pupils and teachers alike.
