Admission to the Sixth-Form (approximately 20 places)
The relaxed atmosphere at NLCS Sixth Form, together with the smaller classes and closer relationships with the teachers, means lessons are interactive and stimulating.
The benefits of being a Sixth Former, such as heading up societies, participating in overseas trips, undertaking work experience or using the common rooms makes school a really enjoyable experience.
Visit NLCS during one of our Open Days and find out more.
We admit approximately 20 girls each year into our Sixth Form to join girls coming up from our own Year 11. We welcome girls who bring new approaches and fresh ideas. Our entrance test and interviews ensure that the candidates are embarking on the right Sixth Form courses and are secure in their background work.
Applications are accepted between July and October of the year preceding admission.
Register here for 2018 entry. After completing the form, click the 'submit' button. You will be forwarded to our ParentPay page where payment of the registration fee can be made. Registration is not complete until the payment has been made. After making the payment you will receive an emailed receipt from ParentPay which is proof of payment and registration.
Girls are invited for one day of entrance tests in early November. These tests are in subjects they are planning to study in the Sixth Form, and are based on the common core of the GCSE syllabuses. Short-listed pupils are subsequently called for interviews with the appropriate Heads of Department in late November.
We will ask your present school for a reference and for predictions for GCSE before we call you for interview. When a candidate is accepted, it is usually unconditionally, on the basis of our tests.
In addition to scholarships based on academic ability, Governors' Bursaries are available for Sixth-Form candidates, in case of financial need. Parents are asked to submit the relevant forms for Governors' Bursaries when their daughters are called for interview.
Places sometimes become available in the Sixth Form after the November entrance tests have been completed. Late applications may be made up to mid-March. Please note, however, that there is no guarantee that places will be available at this stage, and that all financial awards will have been made following the November entrance procedure.
