During half term 21 girls and 3 members of staff took part in the Malta Netball rally. During the first two days the girls received coaching from a number of top South African and UK coaches. The 2 hour slots allowed for some excellent in depth training and allowed the girls to play together and get to know each others' strengths. In the afternoons, at the same brand new indoor facility, the girls were split into two teams to play 20 minute matches against the other schools and clubs involved in the rally. It was an excellent opportunity to try out some girls in new positions and gain match play. After a number of high standard games the B team played Coloma High School in the 5th/ 6th play off and the A team had some excellent results to find themselves in the 1st / 2nd play off against a very strong Rochdale Netball Club.
Friday was a day of relaxation, where a harbour cruise was accompanied with the first sun of the week and some history of the city of Valletta and surrounding areas. The afternoon was then taken on Golden Bay, where the girls caught a few rays and played football and volleyball.
Saturday was tournament day. The girls were divided up into 3 teams to give them as much match play as possible. The girls played extremely well and the A team was unlucky to meet Rochdale again in the semi-final. The evening was rounded up with a disco and presentation evening.
The trip was thoroughly enjoyable and the girls played many hours of netball.
