The North London Collegiate School Debate Team even came second place in the Great Shakespeare Debate! Debating Society is also responsible for introducing girls in Yrs 7 to 9 to debating style and technicalities, through a Debating Club held by Yr 12s. Recent Events Debating Partnership Day '11 Before the Easter holidays Yr 10 students took part in a partnership afternoon with pupils from Heathland School. Girls were paired with counterparts in the other school to prepare debates on a variety of topics ranging from current affairs to modern languages and from science to religious studies. The afternoon of lively debates kicked off after a working lunch. It proved to be highly successful with controversial arguments, passionate speeches and heated rebuttals. This was a great opportunity for everyone to become involved in debating with the specific roles of speakers, chairs and timekeepers as well as the chance to give points from the floor. The afternoon concluded with a debating workshop which was run by the previous Debating Society, giving the year an insight into debating at North London.
