Scuba Diving

28th January, 2009

Article: Nadine Salman (Yr 10)

This term, several girls in Yr 10 had the opportunity to take part in an eight week scuba diving course as part of the Upper School activities programme. Simon Gray, a PADI scuba instructor from the London Scuba Diving School came in to teach the six girls the various skills needed for this fantastic sport.

The course consisted of a simple swimming assessment, six pool confined water skill sessions and a final exam at the end. It was an amazing experience and all the girls enjoyed it. Now all these girls need to do are a few open water dives to officially become Open Water Divers!

β€œI think it was a great opportunity for the girls in our school, and a unique activity to take up,” says Alex Kimmons, one of the Yr 10 girls who enrolled in this course. β€œIt was fun, and although it required a certain amount of commitment, worthwhile. I would recommend it to anyone wishing to do something out of the ordinary!”
