The Alumnae Office (part of the Marketing & Development Office) is delighted to try to help Old North Londoners to further their careers by facilitating appropriate introductions to other ONLs, current North Londoner parents and other contacts.

We are able to help, in particular, with law, pupillages at chambers in the Inns of Court, journalism, media, medicine, fashion and business.

I had always planned on taking a gap year after finishing at Oxford, to give myself some time to work out the career path that I want to follow. One of the avenues I am exploring is law, in particular the bar. Other friends from NLCS had approached School and been introduced to contacts in their prospective professions, so I decided to follow suit, and have had my decision more than validated. The NLCS Alumnae network is an amazing resource for recent graduates, especially if you are still working out what you want to do, as it encompasses people who have experienced success in every profession you can think of. I was put in touch with Dame Victoria Sharp, a High Court Judge and ONL, and consequently spent three days shadowing her in the Royal Courts of Justice. This gave me a fantastic insight; I read through, discussed and watched Court hearings that addressed many different areas of law. I would never have had this opportunity if I hadn’t got in touch with the Development Office, and as such I am very grateful for their support, and recommend that others should do the same!
