I just wanted to send you a quick email thanking you for helping me to secure an internship at the FT. I have been there for a week now and am enjoying it immensely. Sadly I only have another week left before I finish as I must return to the US for school - I would love to stay longer! In any case, I just wanted to pass on a thank you, I really appreciate all the work you did.

I wanted to get work experience in a London law firm after my first year at university. I approached the Development Office as a result of their offer of help to ONLs and I was able to get a week's work experience at Charles Russell LLP in the City. This firm had acted on behalf of the ONLA in writing a new constitution.

Summer 2009: The Development Office was able to help me with shadowing a current parent QC and another barrister during my pupillage applications for the Bar. The personal introduction via North London Collegiate made the world of difference in being able to contact them and fix up times to meet. I also got help from the Development Director with how best to present my CV to the various chambers.

Summer 2009 : I’d always been interested in a career in financial journalism but never had the opportunity to gain the relevant experience to confirm that this was the career path for me. By approaching the Development Office, I managed to secure a coveted internship at the Financial Times with the help of their contact and fellow ONL, Gillian Tett, assistant editor of the paper. My main responsibility was to write the Asia-Pacific markets report and overall the whole internship was thoroughly enjoyable. I now definitely wish to pursue a career at the FT and it is thanks to the Development Office’s help that I was able to realise this.
