Catherine Rose (ONL 2005) was diagnosed with Coeliac Disease at the age of 20. Forced to remove all gluten from her diet, Catherine found that she craved cakes more than anything else! On a trip to New York she stumbled across a gluten free and vegan bakery and bought one of everything in the shop.

Realising the lack of easily available good quality gluten free and vegan food in the UK she decided to set up her own bakery, Sweetcheeks Now, she bakes around 300 cupcakes a week which she sells at a weekly market and by telephone and internet orders from the Sweetcheeks website.

Catherine spent 6 months making cupcake after cupcake until she perfected her recipes. Sweetcheeks uses less refined sugars and saturated fats in their products without compromising on taste. There are now over 20 delicious varieties of cupcakes to choose from as well as yummy chocolate brownies. macaroons and cookies.

On a recent visit back to school, Catherine was able to present a special selection of her cupcakes to her childhood idol, former Spice Girl and UN Ambassador, Geri Halliwell, who was visiting the school as part of the Senior Society speakers programme.

Catherine invites ONLs to visit her website and join her Facebook group to hear about special offers and the latest cupcake news: www.sweetcheeksltd.co.uk.
