Old North Londoners came from far and wide, including Australia, to attend the 1969 Leavers’ Reunion. For some it was their first time back at the school since they left, whilst others had already attended a couple of more recent visits. Around 35 ONLs from 1969 attended the event.

The reunion consisted of a guided tour around the school and its updated facilities, a talk by the headmistress and a formal lunch. They then toured the grounds and dropped in on a Reception class music lesson.

Memories included making the mural outside the dining room, which still remains today, and acting out a variety of plays in the extensive gardens at Canons.

Many commented on the changes to the school over recent years – most markedly the increase in male teaching staff and the addition of the Performing Arts Centre. They all greatly appreciated seeing how the school had changed, and as one ONL, Jacqueline Henderson, commented, ‘The atmosphere is more relaxed – happier.’

The event was a great success, and many ONLs exchanged updated email addresses and phone numbers as a result, as well as reliving many treasured memories of their time at Canons.
