In February 12 Yr 9 students from North London visited Bexley Grammar School in Kent. The trip was led by the Head of Science, Mr Nicol, and was an action-packed day full of exhilarating experiments.

We were given a brief tour of the school before meeting the Yr 9 students from Bexley Grammar School. The first experiment was called an Iodine Clock and we were partnered with pupils from Bexley Grammar. This was a great way to make new friends and work together as a team.

After a lunch break the girls took part in an experiment which required them to neutralise and compare stomach pain-relief tablets. This was an exciting experiment which again required teamwork and a chance to contribute individual skills.

The day culminated in a challenging general knowledge quiz using the highly technical equipment Bexley Grammar School had to offer. The girls were quizzed on a variety of science-related subjects such as ‘How many people have walked on the moon?' Students were required to type their answers on a hand-held device. ‘It was great fun; we all learned something new!' enthused one girl who took part.

The end of the day came too quickly and certificates were awarded to all who took part. Prizes were given to those who showed particular skill in teamwork or excellent overall ability.

The girls of North London Collegiate School look forward to hosting this fun sceincve event next year.
