The Senior and U15 lacrosse teams have taken part in the National Lacrosse Tournament in the last week. This took place at the Imperial College Sports Grounds in Harlington over three days.
Every lacrosse playing school in the country took part and, as ever, the event was an exciting culmination to the lacrosse season.
The 1st and 2nd teams played over two days with Day 1's results determining which competition they took part in on Day 2. The 1st team had a fantastic first day winning all 6 games with convincing score lines:
Moreton Hall 4 - 0
Walthamstow Hall 2 - 1
Sedbergh 6 - 0
St Barts 4 - 1
St Georges, Ascot 5 - 1
Downe House 3 - 1
These results meant that the 1sts were placed in the top section for Day 2 - the Championship tournament. Here they met the top teams in the country. The team pulled together and played the best lacrosse they have played all season. They lost to Berkhamsted, Queen Annes and LEH - all in closely fought matches. They beat Stowe 2 - 1, and drew with Putney 2 - 2 and with Godolphin 0 - 0.
Godolphin were the eventual tournament winners so this proved to be an excellent result.
The 2nd team faced a tough first day losing 5 games and drawing one against Haberdashers' Aske's who they had beaten convincingly just days before. The girls admitted to not playing their best lacrosse on day 1 but certainly pulled it together on day 2. Their results may not have been as they hoped but they fought hard against some excellent opposition to finish with 4 losses, a 1 - 1 draw against St Albans and a 3 - 0 win against Malvern St James.
The U15 A and B teams played in one day tournaments. The B team faced a tough section against a combination of U15 B teams and U14 A teams. They lost 5 games and won one against Queen Anne's 2 - 1.
The U15 A team lost narrowly to Claremont and LEH but won their three other games 6 - 0, 4 - 1 and 4 - 0 against Moreton Hall, Guildford B and Heathfield, Ascot. They drew on points to come 2nd in the group, however, missed out on going through to the knock outs by one goal on goal average. The team thoroughly enjoyed their last tournament as a year group team; next year they will trial and play with the senior teams. The girls learned a huge amount in this tournament and hope that they will take these lessons through to the seniors next year.
Well done to all the players.
