Debate at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office
Recently, eight lower sixth students participated in the South-East Regional Forum of the European Youth Parliament, hosted in the impressive surroundings of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. Following a fascinating introduction to the work of the EU and FCO from Baroness Kinnock, the gruelling day-long programme began, with North London girls debating against students from across London and the South-East on a wide range of issues, from human rights and the European economy to nuclear arms control and Afghanistan.
The North London Collegiate team was particularly commended by the judges for their handling of the difficult motion on Human Rights, for the quality of their summation, and for the level of team work and consistent participation they maintained throughout the day.
