On 30th January, the Parents' Guild held their annual Supper and Quiz Night, which was well attended as usual, with 21 tables of competitors enjoying the event. Both the buffet, supper and the quiz took place in the Dining Hall, which was beautifully decorated by the Parents' Guild. The evening started with a supper of lasagne, salad and apple crumble with custard, allowing the attendees to chat and mingle with those on their table and around the Dining Hall.
The quiz was separated into eight rounds with additional marathon rounds, consisting of a historical quiz and anagrams. The rounds covered general knowledge, classical and popular music, entertainment, food and drink, the Noughties, the Arts and Literature, Sport as well as an "All or Nothing" round. The latter consisted of ten questions, to which the answers all had to be correct for the team to gain the points for the round. Each table also had a "Joker" card, which they could play to gain double the points for one round of their choice. The participants did not take the competitive element of the quiz lightly, but in the end, winning by just one point, Mrs Pomeroy's (Deputy Head) table emerged victorious with a score of 103 points beating last year's winners, the Junior School teachers' table.
The Quiz Night was a resounding success and the number of familiar faces present was testament to the fun and enjoyment that participants have every year. The Parents' Guild would like to thank the Quiz Masters for compiling and presiding over the quiz, the donors of the raffle prizes, and the school for the use of the Dining Hall for the event.
