On 26th March, Natalie Ellis (Yr 13) made a visit to St James’s Palace, to celebrate the success of her Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award, alongside her Queen’s Scout award.

Natalie earned these awards through the Phoenix Explorer Scout Unit, where she completed a variety of tasks ranging from a residential project, which involved helping out at Phasels Wood Campsite, to a long distance hike in the Peak District, in the summer of 2007.
To celebrate her achievements, she was invited to go to the Palace, where she would take part in the presentation ceremony. After meeting HRH Prince Phillip, Natalie was presented her certificate by the founder of the Jongler’s comedy clubs where he gave a short speech on the importance of the Duke of Edinburgh award and how it would help them in their later lives.
