On Monday 12th September NLCS welcomed the author Vince Cross for a lunchtime talk in the library. He spoke about his forthcoming book My Story: The Berlin Olympics. He also talked briefly about his other books in the My Story series. (My Story is a series of historical novels for young people. Each book is written in the form of the diary of a fictional young woman or man living during an important event in history.)
Mr Cross spoke mainly about his latest book and read extracts. He explained that he had based his characters in Edgware in the 1930s and his main character, Sarah, was in fact a student based in a school, Camden Collegiate School, which was largely modelled on NLCS. It was very interesting to hear the school's history told in such a vibrant and exciting way through the eyes of a 14 year old girl. He ended the talk with an opportunity for questions.
His talk was really enjoyable. We eagerly anticipate the release of his new book next year!
