Senior Choral Concert...

4th February 2010

Last night's choral concert was a tremendous success culminating in a exhilarating performance of Haydn's Maria Theresa Mass. In total, 138 singers and performers took part in this thrilling experience which featured Miss Elizabeth Toye (singing teacher at North London) and Mr John Haythornthwaite (Director of Junior School Music) singing as part of the solo quartet. The Senior choir (which also included the parents choir and members of staff) were superb and soared over the virtuosic orchestral passages with confidence.

The first half was equally impressive with three chamber choirs singing varied programmes. The concert began with the senior Chamber choir showing its versatility singing music inspired by the English cathedral choir tradition to Gershwin songs. The Middle school chamber choir then produced a really committed and polished programme of lighter songs and finally the Chandos Singers finished off the 1st  half with some beautifully phrased singing from Schubert to the contemporary composer, Morten Lauridsen.

Congratulations to all who took part.
