Relay for Life total....

This weekend the school hosted a Youth Relay for Life event in aid of Cancer Research....

This was the first ever youth-led, youth-based Relay for Life in the UK.

From the Opening Ceremony at 1pm on Saturday to the Closing Ceremony at 9am on Sunday, each team had at least one member walking around the track. This continued throughout the night when the spirit of relay truly came alive.

Entertainment was held throughout the day on Saturday with various bands and groups taking to the stage including the teachers’ band ‘Push Check Hold’. The teams also had stalls with refreshments, games, raffles and auctions.

The highlight of the event was the Candle of Hope Ceremony which was held at nightfall. Candles in memory of lost loved ones lit the track while a silent contemplation lap was walked. The ceremony concluded with the beautiful singing from ONL Raphaella.

Overall, the total raised throughout the year and on the weekend itself totalled to £60,000. This incredible total is the most the school has ever raised for one event.

Many thanks go to everyone who helped to make the event so successful. Special thanks go to the team of sixty Year 12 girls, the co-chairs Jahnavi Emmanuel and Davina Moss, and the teachers for their enthusiasm and support.
