Physics Trip to CERN 2011

Early in the morning of Monday 13th June, a group of NLCS Year 12 Physics students gathered bleary-eyed but excited at Luton airport, to catch a flight to Switzerland.

After a pleasant lunch on the edge of Lake Geneva, we attended an informative tour around the ‘Palais de Nations' - the United Nations building.

On Tuesday we visited CERN, without a doubt the pinnacle of the trip! We were shown around the experimental area by a retired physicist before visiting the CERN museum and the ‘Globe of Innovations' interactive exhibition.

The trip was an overall success and really accelerated the rate of our learning about particle physics!
