Open Garden Squares 2011

On Saturday June 11th, North London Collegiate School opened its gates as part of the London-wide Open Garden Squares weekend. Despite worrying forecasts, the weather held and the gardens looked glorious.  Around 250 visitors enjoyed the grounds and activities.

Talks and exhibitions on the history of Canons were popular, and children enjoyed pot planting and decorating, as well as traditional outdoor games.  The colourful Pump House Clog Morris Group entertained, and younger visitors had an opportunity to join in or to try maypole dancing.  The dining room was also abuzz with a hands-on cookery activity, face painting and balloons, delicious refreshments on sale and even Harrow Beekeepers with their bees!

It was a wonderful opportunity for both the NLCS community and visitors to appreciate the marvellous surroundings here at Canons. Thanks to all who volunteered and helped make the event such a great success.
