Music Music Music

Congratulations to one of the Junior School Piano Trios who won a coveted place in the Procorda National Chamber Music Festival Finals, held at the Birmingham Conservatoire of Music on 14th March 2010.

The girls, Rania Kim (Violin) Ria Popat (Piano) and Anoushka Sharp (Cello), were up at the crack of dawn to travel to Birmingham, along with our own Junior School Director of Music, Mr John Haythornthwaite. The trio impressed the audience and adjudicators with a stylish performance of a Minuet and Trio by the late British composer Frank Bridge and were complemented on both their excellent ensemble playing and their all round musicianship.

The trio and their families then went on to Cadbury World for well deserved chocolate treat.  This was a lovely day and a wonderful achievement for the talented Junior girls.

We are also very proud of Amber Lin (2G) who walked away from the Watford Festival with First Prize. Amber entered the Piano Grade Four category as the youngest competitor and everyone was thrilled to hear the adjudicator say she was the winner, in spite of the serious competition from much older performers. Amber and her family were over the moon - and so are we.
