Junior Jubilee

 Junior Jubilee

When we celebrate in the Junior School we do it in style!

In honour of the Diamond Jubilee we met the Queen - on more than one occasion and in several guises. We sang the National Anthem, iced biscuits, traced the family tree of the royal family and made placemats.

And we danced!

The Year 6 girls learnt dances from every decade of Queen Elizabeth's reign and, having mastered them, proceeded to teach them to the rest of the Lower School. It was sheer joy to watch all 200 girls, doing the waltz, the Locomotion and the Macarena.  They did a Michael Jackson Thriller dance and a Saturday Night Fever dance.  And they did Rock & Roll to Elvis Presley's Blue Suede Shoes and the Twist to the Beatles' Twist and Shout.

The girls and the staff had a wonderful time and worked up an appetite for their street party.

In true North London fashion, the rain held off. The long line of tables behind the Junior School sported Union Jack table cloths, Union Jack plates and Union Jack serviettes. The girls had brought delicious food and everyone tucked in with great enthusiasm.

It really was a right royal occasion.
