Year 6 slipped into a time warp on Monday 16th January when they donned their aprons and head scarves and cooked World War Two recipes using World War Two rations. They used a lot of potatoes and carrots! The girls really threw themselves into the experience, peeling and chopping, making pastry and pies and then tasting the fruits of their labour. They all agreed that the Mock Apricot Flan, using carrots instead of apricots - well, there is a war on! - considerably exceeded expectations. They really enjoyed Woolton Pie, Potato Jane and a variety of vegetables stuffed with (veggie) sausage meat. The girls had a great day, learnt bucket loads of history and went home extolling the virtues of home cooking. Although they were somewhat sceptical about their family's ability to get through the week on the rations!
