Other Examinations (Young Enterprise, BMAT & other University Pre-admission Tests, AEA, STEP)

The school offers students the opportunity of sitting a number of other public examinations.

Young Enterprise

Students in year 12 may join the Young Enterprise Company Programme, as part of which they have the option to sit the papers for the Level 2 Certificate in Enterprise (OCR). The qualification comprises a centre assessed task and a formal written examination, both of which generally take place in March.

The written examination for the Certificate in Enterprise will take place on March 23rd 2010.

The deadline for submitting entries to the Exams Office is February 5th 2010.

University Pre-admission Tests

Some courses at specific universities require applicants to sit additional tests: BioMedical Admissions Test (BMAT); English Literature Admissions Test (ELAT); Thinking Skills Assessment (TSA); History Aptitude Test (HAT); UK Clinical Aptitude Test (UKCAT); National Admissions Test for Law (LNAT); Physics; Mathematics. These all run in the Autumn term and are part of the UCAS process. For BMAT, ELAT and Oxford TSA exams, students must enter through the school. Any girl intending to sit one of these tests must bring to the Examinations Office a copy of their UCAS form, which contains the personal details, course codes and university choices (including the individual colleges) which are necessary for entries to be submitted successfully. Entries for other pre-admissions tests are either automatically generated by the University (HAT, Physics, Maths) or must be entered individually via the appropriate websites (UKCAT, LNAT). Cambridge TSA tests will take place during the interview process.

BMAT, ELAT, HAT, Oxford TSA, Physics, Mathematics examinations take place on November 4th 2009.

Deadline for submission of entries (via UCAS forms) to Examinations Office is 21st September 2009.

Advanced Extension Awards / STEP

One or more of these papers are taken by a small number of students for whom it is required as part of their university offer. Entry requests for this examination must be submitted on the appropriate form to the Examinations Office by 16th March 2010.

Please note that the only AEA available in summer 2010 will be in Mathematics.
