During Year 8 Founder's Day charity week, the Year 8 Charity Committee held events in order to support I CAN. I CAN help children with speech, language and communication needs. The week was held to commemorate Frances Mary Buss, the school's founder, and her dedication to charity as well as helping the community.
On Monday 27th February there was a cupcake sale. They sold out almost instantly. Not a crumb could be seen anywhere!
On Wednesday 29th February a fun run was held on Lime Avenue. Girls were sponsored to run or walk as far as possible. Some girls even dressed up! Three girls tied their ankles together so it was a four-legged run! They raised lots money with some girls collecting over £100.
On Friday 2nd March there was a balloon release. Girls purchased tags with their names on, which were attached to a balloon. It was a spectacular sight to see all the balloons released at once. We will now have to wait to find out which balloon travelled the furthest!
A huge thank you must go to Anita Khiroya from Gift Angels for donating cupcakes as well as to Mr Hitchcock and Miss Atkinson for helping the Year 8 Charity Committee organise the events. The committee would like to express their gratitude to all who took part in these events. Finally a huge thank you to the Year 8 Charity Committee for putting so much time, effort and creativity into making this Founder's Day week a success.
