We strongly encourage the parents of girls who wish to apply for a place at 4+ or 7+ to come to one of our School in Action Mornings, giving parents the opportunity to look around the Junior School whilst lessons are in progress. Upon arrival, refreshments will be available, followed by a talk from the Head of the Junior School giving information about the admissions process. Junior School girls will act as tour guides, showing parents around the classrooms and the school facilities.

Our annual Open Day which is held in the Autumn term, provides the perfect opportunity for parents to bring their daughters to visit the school. They will be able to follow a ‘Junior School Trail', experience the activities and visit the classrooms used for the assessments.

Admission to the First School (4+) -40 places

Girls enter the Reception class in the First School in their 5th year. Thus, for September 2014 entry, girls must have a date of birth between 1 September 2009 and 31 August 2010. We will register applications for September 2014 entry in the period between May and November of the previous year.

Our assessment process is in two stages and takes place in January. We are looking for what the girls can do and not what they cannot. We do not expect a candidate to be able to read or write. The assessment comprises:

Part 1 - "Play" activities lasting about an hour in groups of about 10 children.

Part 2 - A smaller group of girls are recalled for the second round which includes a one-to-one assessment of each girl.

Girls spend three years in the First School and move up to the Lower School in Year 3 when they are aged seven.
