Admission to the First School (40 places)
Girls enter the Reception class in the First School in their 5th year. Thus, for September 2011 entry, girls must have a date of birth between 1 September 2006 and 31 August 2007. We register applications for entry in September in the period between May and November of the previous year. Applications for 2011 entry will open on 1 May 2010 and the closing date is 15th November.
Our assessment process is in two stages and takes place in January. We are looking for what the girls can do and not what they cannot. We do not expect a candidate to be able to read or write. The assessment comprises:
Part 1 - "Play" activities lasting about an hour in groups of about 10 children.
Part 2 - A smaller group of girls are recalled for the second round which includes a one-to-one assessment of each girl.
Girls spend three years in the First School and move up to the Junior School in Year 3 when they are aged seven.
