The Middle School comprises Years 7,8 and 9. Whether girls join the school in Year 7 or move up from the Junior School, the beginning of Middle School is a time of making new friendships and trying out new things in a nurturing environment.
In the Middle School all pupils follow a broad and balanced programme designed to provide them with strong foundations for further study, to nurture a sense of enjoyment in their work and to give every girl a chance to discover and develop her own passions and interests. In Year 7 girls study Latin and also French as their Modern Foreign Language. In Year 8 girls add a second Modern Foreign Language, choosing between Spanish and German.
Pupils in the Middle School enjoy a very broad range of extra-curricular activities. Many girls take part in several clubs during the school week. There are numerous clubs designed to enrich and deepen the academic curiosity of the girls, such as Maths Club, Classics club and Mad Hatters book club. There are many music groups, choirs and orchestras in which girls can join. As well as a Drama Club for Year 7, the Middle School presents two play each year. There are also a very well attended Middle School Debating Club and a Creative Writing club. There are many sports clubs which focus not only on the main sports offered as part of the PE syllabus, but also additional sports such as badminton and cheer-leading.
